If you want
to just look at some pictures: click the link on the left that says PHOTOs,
there you should see links to galleries of photos from everyone who has
sent me links so far. I have also posted the photos that were shown in
a wonderful slide show put together by Kiera with photos from ten years
ago and from the years between now and then. I am hoping you will all
send me more photos if you have them. Kiera, J-F, Vanessa and Hussein
are working on getting a site put together that will support ongoing discussion
and encourage communication, I will post info about that as soon as I
get it. Thank you all for an amazing week. - Snow
[What
I remember] Well...we
made it there and back. A taste of the past, but more importantly a wonderful
immersion in the present. Everyone looks better than ever and our family
is growing...the Pearson toddlers seemed as much at home roaming around
campus as everyone else. Race Rocks is still beautiful and Gary is doing
amazing work to share it with children in schools around the world. The
campus is still green and quiet with shy deer and bossy raccoons making
it their home too. We walked in the forest, although the waterfall was
mostly dry at this time of year, everything was green and lush and for
once light up by warm sunshine. We pulled up broom bushes (in the rain
of course!) to make room for more native plant species (to the dismay
of those with allergies). We walked carefully over the new dock (which
is under construction), to go sailing, canoing, diving, and lasering.
We enjoyed a new salad bar in the cafeteria as well as many of those other
dishes we all remember (for better or worse). We hiked up to the amazing
new Observatory and enjoyed the view of the stars and the lights shining
across the water in Port Angeles. We talked and were surprised by how
much everyone was the same and also by how much they were different in
small but important ways. Erik danced, Renana and Bruce played piano,
Kirthi sang, Sharx drummed, and we enjoyed listening to CDs of amazing
music from Kati and from Jaylene. The partners were brave enought to do
a gumboot dance and to cooperate with Erik's surprise group roll on stage.
There was latino dancing and late-night visiting in the Common Room. We
did some pottery (or tried to) and laughed with Art in Ondaatje Hall...he
also dug up some hilarious video footage of the art students doing photo
shoots with crazy make-up, lights and costumes...hey, at least we tried,
right? Sharx and Ryan were proof that recent students are maybe even more
amazing than we were back then. The final circle was confirmation that
this is a challenging and rewarding community that we are privileged to
be a part of. I hope we can all continue to follow our paths and to share
what we learn with one another along the way. If anyone has photos to
add to the site; send Snow Dowd
